COUNSELING THAT ACHIEVES RESULTS

U.C.A.S.S. knows that it takes more than treatment to help our clients. They also need our support during and after therapy. As such, we provide comprehensive counseling that promotes overall mental and physical wellness.

THE HELP YOU NEED

In addition to our outpatient therapy, our counselors reach out and seek to support clients in their home environment. We assign clients to a substance abuse counselor and provide resources such as self-help groups that will help guide them to a full recovery.

QUALIFIED COUNSELORS

Each counselor must have 2 or more years of experience before we assign them to a client. All our licensed counselors follow all the procedures as required by the State of Virginia. Additionally, they work under the direction of a psychologist or psychiatrist to address the following:

  • Disease
  • Triggers
  • Recovery
  • After Care
  • Emotional, Physical, and Spiritual Dimensions

We create an Individual Service Plan (ISP) that addresses the individual, their goals, and their objective. First, we work to stabilize the client and then work on finding solutions to problems that may continue to cause the disease/addiction such as homelessness. Traditionally, this plan is a minimum of 16 weeks, but sometimes it can be 6 months to a year, depending on the client's needs.

THE STEPS TO RECOVERY

We participate in a 12-step program to clients deal with family and social issues. Some clients have problematic relationships with children and family, so we provide strategies to help strengthen their relationships.

This same type of counseling can be applied to a client's work environment. We will establish their history, skills, work habits, work quality, and their interests to determine the proper approach to treatment.

Overall health is essential to better mental health. As such, we will work with clients on their health and medical issues such as exercise, nutrition, and weight management. We will also recommend them to a dentist or health provider.

Turn to us for assistance when substance abuse results in legal issues such as DUI or criminal charges. We can refer clients to lawyers and help them with funding.
